Clydesdale 2008 Summer Regatta

This years Clydesdale Summer Regatta saw some changes to the GCU entries. For the first time there was a mixed four (male and female), an R2 men’s pair and Steg the Emo turned into Steg the Hero, boldly entering himself into the men’s novice single skulls. The ladies once again entered their composite four, only losing out in the final to their worthy opponents. Also entered were two composite female coxed quads which contained Jacquie in one boat and Anne in the other, with Clydesdale ladies making up the other 6 members.

The pair was in the lead in their R2 final before seat problems in the boat caused them to stop and lose 300m ground on their opponents.

Steg was living up to his name, comfortably beating off his opponents until his guff steering landed him into the bank, losing out in the semis.

The ladies 4 were pipped to the post in the final whilst the composite quad with Anne + Clydesdale managed to beat off Jacquie and her crew to take the gold.

As for the most important race of the day, the mixed open fours, GCUBC annihilated the competition, taking the first place position as well as the pride of Chris Phillips.

All in all, a great day out.

GCU Mens Novice 2x Win at SPR 2008

Scott and Jamie won at the 2008 SPR in their double scull. This was despite only having been in the boat together for 15minutes over the past year. Well done to them (and by them i mean me =) )

The GCU Men lose their rowing novice at the Glasgow Rowing Club Silver Regatta winning by around 4 lengths overall.

Please check our Photo Gallery for photos of the Clyde HORR 2007. Sadly division 1 was missed due to camera battery issues but Division 2 and 3 are up there.
